Housekeeping Supervisor, Full Time (Exempt) Position

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department, as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services. This role includes training and supervising housekeeping staff, ordering supplies, approved chemicals, and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and ensuring departmental operations remain within established budgetary guidelines. The Housekeeping Supervisor also maintains positive relationships with residents and fosters strong morale within the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Establishes housekeeping standards and procedures and plans work schedules to maintain adequate service.
- Inspects and evaluates assigned areas of the facility for physical condition and cleanliness.
- Recommends painting, repairs, furnishings, equipment relocation, and space reallocation to management, and assists with reassigning duties and tasks.
- Conducts periodic inventories of supplies and equipment and orders supplies as needed.
- Coordinates annual cleaning activities with the Environmental Services Director.
- Coordinates department functions with other departments.
- Researches new and improved cleaning equipment, chemicals, and processes.
- Conducts quality assurance inspections as requested.
- Provides thorough training to staff under their leadership.
- Distributes work requests and tasks promptly and efficiently.
- Occasionally assists with task-related duties without replacing supervisory responsibilities.
- Helps operate the department within budget guidelines.
- Implements and monitors departmental compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
- Attends assigned in-service training and education sessions.
- Performs specific duties and responsibilities assigned by the Environmental Services Director.
- Interacts courteously, tactfully, and professionally with managers, co-workers, residents, vendors, and associates to support productivity and morale.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 10-20 employees in the Environmental Services Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; recognizing and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Several years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior housekeeping supervisory experience is preferred.
