Job summary

Residence Inn San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp owned by Island Hospitality Management seeks a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead daily housekeeping operations, assign work, and ensure guest rooms and public areas meet cleanliness and brand standards.

Candidates should have at least 2 years’ hotel housekeeping experience with supervisory background, knowledge of procedures and scheduling, and basic to intermediate computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel); weekend availability may be required.

Description

We are looking to add a Housekeeping Supervisor to assist with the day-to-day operation of the Housekeeping Department at the Residence Inn San Diego Downtown/Gaslamp. This role supports daily housekeeping responsibilities, including opening and closing the department, assigning work, and ensuring guest rooms, public spaces, and hotel areas meet cleanliness and brand standards.

This position may require flexible scheduling availability. Weekends & holiday availability required.

Requirements

Job Requirements:

• Assist the Director of Rooms to ensure overall effective daily operation of the housekeeping department
• Assign daily work to housekeeping team to ensure cleanliness standards are met
• Inspect cleanliness, service and quality standards of guest rooms, public areas, restrooms, meeting rooms, employee areas, and all areas of the hotel in accordance with brand and IHM standards
• Assist with training and onboarding of new room attendants, laundry attendants, and housemen.
• Ongoing training of existing team members to ensure they are meeting cleanliness and brand standards as well as practicing safe work habits
• Monitor and update the status of rooms promptly and accurately through the property management system to ensure rooms are ready for guest check-in
• Effectively communicate guest requests with the housekeeping team and Front Desk team as needed
• Inspect rooms for deficiencies and submit maintenance requests as needed
• Ensure linen rooms and all housekeeping storage areas are cleaned, organized and well-stocked
• Support staff and perform the duties of any housekeeping role as needed
• Assist the Director of Rooms with inventory, ordering and receiving as needed
• Communicate positively and effectively with guests to provide an exceptional level of service
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by promoting open communication, recognizing team achievements, supporting staff development, and actively participating in TEAM events to enhance morale and productivity
• Communicate with maintenance team regarding any maintenance requests reported by housekeeping team members
• Communicate with front desk team regarding rooms that are ready for new arrivals to check-in

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a hotel housekeeping function
• Previous supervisory experience preferred
• Knowledge of hotel housekeeping operations
• Knowledge of housekeeping procedures, productivity standards, scheduling, and labor cost control.
• Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Highly motivated team player with strong initiative and desire for achievement
• Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
• Ability to work well in stressful situations
• Readily available and approachable for all guests while providing excellent guest service

Island Hospitality is unable to guarantee a specific number of work hours per week.
