The objective of the Housekeeping Room Attendant is to maintain a high level of cleanliness in guest rooms and to replenish guest amenities according to standards. All assigned guest rooms must be cleaned within the allotted time specified by the housekeeping department.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Use appropriate cleaning chemicals on appropriate items only as trained. Do not mix chemicals together or use straight out of the original bottle. Must use appropriate safety measures. Gloves are available in the housekeeping department.
• Be aware of bloodborne pathogen procedures and contact supervisor when needed.
• Clean all guest bathrooms with appropriate chemicals and hot water. Disinfect all surfaces using proper cleaning procedures.
• Place all dirty linen in the linen bag on the cart. No trash or housekeeping glasses are to be on the floor in the hallway.
• Keep work area neat and clean at all times. Clean carts at the end of each day.
• Remove room service trays from guest rooms and place them neatly outside the door.
• Bring all lost and found items to the housekeeping office with room number and date. Valuable items should be given directly to a supervisor for immediate locking up.
• Notify your supervisor of any maintenance issues in guest rooms.
• Perform any other tasks assigned involving guest room cleaning.
• Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude towards guests at all times.

Additional standards

Bed linens must be changed according to standards set by the housekeeping department. Vacant and dirty rooms MUST be cleaned daily. Failure to do so may result in termination due to health code violations. Sheets in occupied stayover rooms should be changed every third day unless otherwise specified by the guest or if stains are noticed. Linen must also be changed on rollaway beds and cribs in the same manner.
