Job Description Summary

The Housekeeping Manager (HM) works with the Operations Manager to supervise the housekeeping and laundry operation to ensure product quality standards are met and that optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to hotel and company business objectives. This is the onsite lead supervisory job in the housekeeping department. The Housekeeping Manager typically supervises a small team of 10-20 housekeeping and laundry employees, overseeing all hotel areas. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, organization, and security of linen and supplies, and ensuring guest and staff satisfaction, as well as controlling expenses and maintaining product quality.

Job Responsibilities

1. Deliver excellent guest service following Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
2. Ensure staff training and proper supplies are in place.
3. Lead the delivery of clean rooms meeting brand standards.
4. Partner with the Operations Manager for performance monitoring and HR actions.
5. Recruit, develop, and manage housekeeping staff.
6. Inspect guest suites and public areas for cleanliness and repair, instruct staff on corrections.
7. Perform housekeeping duties as needed.
8. Manage laundry operations in partnership with Maintenance.
9. Maintain linen and supply inventories.
10. Ensure security of lost and found items.
11. Promote teamwork and communication across shifts.
12. Enforce hotel policies and standards.
13. Act as “Manager on duty” when required.
14. Ensure compliance with health and safety laws.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 5 years housekeeping experience including supervisory roles.
• Experience in extended stay industry preferred.
• Fluent in English; other languages beneficial.
• Effective communication, math, organizational, and training skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Regular use of cleaning chemicals and handling of equipment.
