Job summary

Glen Park Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping & Maintenance Manager to lead cleaning, sanitation, safety, and facility upkeep across the assisted living campus. You will supervise housekeeping and maintenance staff, coordinate daily operations, and ensure resident rooms and common areas meet high standards.

The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, and experienced in managing staff and facility operations, with a strong commitment to resident dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Job description

The Housekeeping & Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, sanitation, safety, appearance, and general maintenance of the assisted living facility. This position supervises housekeeping and maintenance staff, coordinates daily operations, ensures resident rooms and common areas are maintained to a high standard, and helps provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, families, visitors, and employees.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, hands-on, and experienced in managing staff and facility operations. The manager must demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to resident dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Housekeeping Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining a private residence or commercial building to make sure that it meets any housekeeping sanitation requirements and provides a comfortable space for residents or employees.
• Dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures
• Cleaning and sanitizing toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops, and sinks
• Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen area
• Making beds and changing linens
• Washing windows
• Vacuuming and cleaning carpets and rugs
• Sweeping/vacuuming, polishing, and mopping hard floors
• Sorting, washing, loading, and unloading laundry
• Ironing clothing items
• Using any cleaning equipment such as vacuums, mops, and other cleaning tools
• Keeping bathrooms stocked with clean linens, toiletries, and other supplies
• Cleaning mirrors and other glass surfaces
• Emptying trash receptacles and disposing of waste
• Steaming and cleaning draperies
• Washing blinds
• Tidying up rooms
• Monitoring cleaning supplies and ordering more as needed
• Reporting any necessary repairs or replacement

Maintenance & Facility Operations

• Oversee routine and preventive maintenance of the building, grounds, equipment, fixtures, and facility systems.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance, safety, and repair needs.
• Reporting any necessary repairs or replacement

Skills and Qualifications

Knowledge of and experience in Cleaning and Sanitising rooms to varying levels to meet requirements, Willingness to Learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment, Ability to Adapt to Different Situations and Change Work Processes to accommodate customer needs, Ability to Take Criticism, Listening Skills to make sure that they are meeting the needs of their clients for cleanliness and sanitation standards, Good Customer Service skills, Reliability, Organizational skills, Integrity and Honesty, High Energy Levels.

Staff Supervision

• Assign daily duties and ensure adequate staffing and coverage.
• Provide ongoing training regarding cleaning procedures, workplace safety, infection prevention, chemical handling, and facility policies.
• Monitor employee performance, attendance, punctuality, and adherence to facility policies.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication.
• Address performance issues appropriately and communicate significant concerns to facility leadership.
• Assist with disaster preparedness and facility emergency procedures.
• Maintain the facility grounds and exterior areas in a clean, safe, and presentable condition.
• Live-Scan Fingerprint Clearance (company will reimburse after 60 days)
• Negative T.B. and Health Screening
• Comfortable working during the current pandemic
