Apple Rehab Farmington Valley is seeking a Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant Supervisor to support our residents and maintain high cleanliness standards. You will oversee laundry operations, sort and wash linens, and ensure a safe, organized work environment within the facility.

The role requires ability to lift 40 pounds, follow infection control protocols, and work as part of a dedicated team to provide compassionate care in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

Job Opportunity: Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant Supervisor

Job Description:

• Provides quality laundry services to all facility residents.
• Collects and/or sorts soiled linen following proper sanitation procedures including keeping contaminated articles separate.
• Operates all laundry equipment, washes, dries, folds and distributes clean linen and personal clothing.
• Maintains a clean, orderly work area and department.
• Assists in maintaining adequate supply of linens for the facility and supplies needed in the department.
• Inspects linen and removes for review by department head any worn linen which may need to be replaced.
• Sets up laundry carts or closets with adequate supplies for distribution to the residents.
• Assists in providing a clean and safe working environment.
• Understands and uses Universal Precautions, follows established infections control policies and procedures, hazardous communication and all other safety rules including company procedures for reporting accidents/incidents as well as hazardous conditions, and fire and disaster plans.
• Ensures cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
• Perform thorough cleaning duties in assigned areas within the facility, including resident rooms and bathrooms, according to specified schedules and established cleanliness benchmarks.
• Adhere strictly to infection control protocols, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained to minimize health risks.
• Efficiently manage time and coordinate tasks with other staff members to minimize disruptions to residents and staff during cleaning procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization within the work area and department, promoting a hygienic and orderly environment.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring and replenishing supplies required for effective departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read labels and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to read and understand labels and safety instructions and other department policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take appropriate actions.
• Ability to visually assess all aspects of laundry department.
• Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures and to hear and respond to pages.
• Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift, grasp, pull, stretch, stoop and have fine hand coordination.
• Ability to lift and carry laundry bags of approximately 40 pounds, stock shelves and laundry carts, push carts and climb stairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred, demonstrating familiarity with the demands and nuances of such environments.
