POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment under the direction of the Executive Director and/or the Environmental Services Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work and cleaning schedules diligently.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and training programs.
4. Ensure supplies are adequately stocked in utility/janitorial closets.
5. Report and replace burned-out lights promptly.
6. Assist in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
7. Maintain cleanliness of work and supply areas, including equipment and carts.
8. Perform assigned environmental tasks, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, fixtures, floors, carpets, windows, and walls.
9. Properly discard waste and ensure proper sanitation procedures, especially for infectious waste.
10. Clean vacant rooms and perform infection control procedures as required.
11. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly.
12. Note: The assistant does not assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) or skilled needs.

Qualifications

Education: High School / GED

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and move throughout the shift. Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs. Must communicate effectively with staff, residents, and visitors.
