Position Overview

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department, ensuring the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner, in accordance with all applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role reports to the Executive Director and/or Environmental Services Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Follow work and cleaning schedules closely.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours.
• Attend scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
• Participate in OSHA and CDC hazard communication and infection control training.
• Maintain supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
• Report malfunctioning lights and equipment promptly.
• Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
• Clean work and supply carts, equipment, and ensure proper storage.
• Perform daily environmental cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, disinfecting, and polishing surfaces.
• Clean windows, mirrors, bathroom fixtures, and floors, including carpet cleaning.
• Remove waste and infectious materials properly.
• Follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of work areas and equipment.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills required.
