Position Overview

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is primarily responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. They will work under the direction of the Executive Director and/or the Environmental Services Supervisor to ensure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Roles And Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules diligently.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes, on-the-job training, and annual OSHA and CDC training programs.
4. Maintain an adequate supply of environmental services supplies.
5. Report malfunctioning lights and other equipment promptly.
6. Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
7. Clean and disinfect work areas, equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper storage.
8. Perform daily cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing in resident rooms, recreational areas, and hallways.
9. Ensure proper waste disposal, including infectious waste.
10. Follow infection control procedures during cleaning, especially in isolation areas.
11. Ensure cleanliness and organization of work areas and proper storage of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills required.
