POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for performing daily activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Under the supervision of the Executive Director or Environmental Services Supervisor, the role ensures the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules diligently.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
3. Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training.
4. Attend OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training annually.
5. Maintain adequate supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
6. Report and replace burned out lights promptly.
7. Assist in lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
8. Clean and sanitize work carts and equipment; ensure proper storage after use.
9. Perform daily environmental tasks as assigned, including cleaning furnishings, fixtures, and surfaces.
10. Clean floors, carpets, walls, ceilings, and windows using appropriate methods and safety signs.
11. Manage waste disposal properly, including infectious waste.
12. Clean vacant rooms and perform infection control procedures.
13. Ensure work areas are tidy, and equipment is stored properly.
14. The role does not include assisting residents with activities of daily living or skilled needs.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and lift at least 50 lbs. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
