Position Overview

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for daily activities within the Environmental Services Department, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment as directed by the Executive Director or Environmental Services Supervisor.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Follow work/cleaning schedules closely.
2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours.
3. Participate in scheduled educational and training programs, including OSHA and CDC in-services.
4. Maintain adequate supplies in utility/janitorial closets.
5. Report and replace burned-out lights promptly.
6. Assist with lifting heavy equipment and supplies as needed.
7. Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and supplies, ensuring proper storage.
8. Perform daily environmental cleaning tasks, including emptying trash, cleaning fixtures, windows, floors, carpets, walls, and ceilings.
9. Follow infection control procedures for isolation cleaning.
10. Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is stored properly.
11. Perform other assigned cleaning duties as required.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, stoop, walk, and lift at least 50 lbs. Good communication skills are required.
