POSITION OVERVIEW

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Assistant is primarily responsible for performing the day-to-day activities of the Environmental Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. This role may be directed by the Executive Director and/or the Environmental Services Supervisor to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Follow work/cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor within 24 hours, regardless of severity.
• Participate in scheduled in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs.
• Attend annual OSHA and CDC hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens training.
• Maintain adequate supplies of environmental services materials in utility/janitorial closets.
• Report burned out lights and other maintenance issues promptly.
• Assist in lifting heavy equipment or supplies as needed.
• Clean and sanitize work and supply areas, ensuring equipment is cleaned and stored properly.
• Perform daily environmental cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, waxing, disinfecting, and more.
• Clean windows, mirrors, bathroom fixtures, and other surfaces to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
• Discard waste properly, including infectious waste.
• Clean vacant rooms and perform isolation cleaning as per infection control procedures.
• Ensure work areas are clean and equipment is properly stored at all times.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, stretch, and lift at least 50 lbs. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
