Summary

The primary purpose of the Housekeeping Director is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. They will work as directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Environmental Services to ensure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
  2. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor, regardless of severity.
  3. Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services during routine cleaning in resident areas.
  4. Clean, wash, sanitize, and polish fixtures, ledges, heating/cooling units, bathroom fixtures, etc.
  5. Clean floors through sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and disinfecting.
  6. Properly discard waste into designated containers and relining trash receptacles.
  7. Maintain confidentiality of resident’s protected health information and report any violations.
  8. Follow established safety precautions and proper techniques when handling chemicals and using equipment.
  9. Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling infectious materials or hazardous wastes.
Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Capable of following instructions for mixing cleaning compounds and disinfectants. Willing to work harmoniously with staff and handle residents respectfully.

Physical Demands

Must be able to move intermittently, cope with mental and emotional stress, and lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Ability to push, pull, move, and carry such weight over a distance of at least 50 feet.
