Job Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting, budgeting, and managing the housekeeping department's employees and equipment to ensure maximum cleanliness and order throughout the building. This includes laundry services for resident clothing and facility linen.
Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred.
- Business and personnel management training preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in excess of fifty pounds.

Main Duties
- Support the facility's philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals.
- Develop job descriptions and orientation checklists for housekeeping and laundry staff for approval.
- Update and enforce personnel policies for staff.
- Recruit, interview, and verify references to staff the department appropriately.
- Propose staffing needs and organizational structure for approval.
- Supervise scheduling to ensure continuous service.
- Ensure staff awareness of authority lines and enforce discipline when necessary, documenting appropriately.
- Supervise new employee orientation and training.
- Delegate authority as needed.
- Verify time clock reports for payroll.
- Supervise procurement, storage, and distribution of supplies.
- Maintain linen inventory to ensure supply ratio of 3:1.
- Supervise laundry operations, including handling of linen and clothing, distribution, and proper procedures.
- Manage bio-hazardous waste disposal according to regulations.
- Participate in fire, disaster, and evacuation drills.
- Lead performance improvement projects per JCAHO guidelines.
- In-service other departments on safety and bio-hazard procedures.
- Maintain MSDS records and ensure accessibility.
- Stay updated on regulations and modify policies for compliance.
- Implement corrective plans as required by surveys.
- Provide information about residents only to authorized agencies.
- Follow safety, infection control, and evacuation policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work as weekend supervisor as part of department rotation.
