Job summary

East Park Care Community is seeking a Housekeeping Director to oversee housekeeping operations across the facility, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will supervise staff, create schedules, train and evaluate team members, and partner with nursing and maintenance to maintain high standards of hygiene.

This role requires 3–5 years of healthcare housekeeping management, a strong leadership record, budgeting skills, and a focus on infection control.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of housekeeping management in healthcare or long-term care.
  • Strong leadership, budgeting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead housekeeping staff and manage scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee cleaning and sanitation of resident rooms, common areas, and offices per health standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare for inspections with accurate documentation.
  • Manage inventory and budget for cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment; control costs.
  • Collaborate with nursing and maintenance to coordinate cleaning tasks and operations.
  • Develop training programs on infection control, safety, and best practices for staff.
  • Enforce safety protocols and PPE usage; identify and mitigate hazards.

The Housekeeping Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the housekeeping operations within a healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. This includes supervising housekeeping staff, ensuring that the facility is maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition, and complying with all regulatory standards. The Housekeeping Director plays a vital role in creating a comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by upholding the highest cleanliness and hygiene standards.Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Staff Management:Supervise, train, and mentor the housekeeping team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality cleaning and sanitation throughout the facility.Create work schedules and assign daily tasks to housekeeping staff to ensure all areas are covered.Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss goals, policies, and performance expectations.Perform regular evaluations of housekeeping staff and provide feedback for improvement.Cleaning and Sanitation Oversight:Ensure that all areas of the facility, including resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and offices, are cleaned and sanitized according to facility policies and health standards.Implement and maintain cleaning protocols that meet or exceed regulatory requirements for infection control and safety.Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety are maintained at all times.Oversee the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies.Regulatory Compliance:Ensure that all housekeeping activities comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.Maintain records of cleaning schedules, safety inspections, and training for regulatory compliance purposes.Inventory and Budget Management:Manage the inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linens, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.Monitor and control the housekeeping department’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.Order cleaning supplies, linens, and equipment as needed, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with facility standards.Team Collaboration and Communication:Collaborate with other department heads, including nursing and maintenance, to coordinate cleaning tasks and ensure smooth facility operations.Address any concerns or requests from residents, staff, or families regarding housekeeping services in a timely and professional manner.Develop and implement training programs for housekeeping staff, focusing on infection control, safety protocols, and best practices.Safety and Infection Control:Ensure compliance with all infection control guidelines, including proper handling of hazardous materials, chemicals, and waste disposal.Develop and maintain safety protocols for housekeeping staff, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Identify and address potential safety hazards in the facility to protect residents, staff, and visitors.Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in housekeeping management, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
