Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning functions in the assigned area following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
• Dry or wet mops and vacuums rooms, floors, stairways, public areas, and other surfaces.
• Collects waste from area and places it in designated areas or the compactor.
• Damp dusts or washes furniture.
• Cleans and sanitizes all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.
• Spot cleans walls, windows, and metal surfaces.
• Spot cleans carpets as needed.
• Dispenses chemicals and dilutes them according to approved procedures.
• Cleans fixtures, tops of windows, doorframes, and other high areas using a ladder.
• Performs terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares the room for new occupant; follows isolation procedures in isolations rooms.
• Cleans up spills (including hazardous and infectious waste) as observed or upon request.
• Assists in floor finishing and carpet cleaning activities.
• Maintains assigned equipment, materials, and closet in orderly and workable state.
• Moves and stores supplies (and other heavy objects) as required.
• Reports the need for repair/potential hazards of equipment, furniture, fixtures, and building to the Plant Operations Department and/or Supervisor.
• Participates in facility wide as well as departmental in-service training.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
• Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
• Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
