Job summary

Elderwood at Amherst is seeking a full-time Housekeeping Aide to help maintain a clean, safe environment for residents. The 7am-3pm shift includes weekend rotation and focuses on cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and offices.

You will assist with moving personal belongings, cleaning and disinfecting spaces, and upholding infection control practices to safeguard residents and staff. Prior custodial or housekeeping experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and/or laundry experience preferred.
• Must read, write, and understand English at intermediate level or higher.
• Under 18 cannot operate certain dangerous equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of general areas and resident rooms.
• Disinfect floors, furniture, beds and bathrooms as rooms are discharged or transferred.
• Follow safety rules and fire regulations where applicable.
• Practice infection control in cleaning methods and personal hygiene.
• Store cleaning chemicals and hazardous substances properly.
• Collect and dispose of trash to prevent disease transmission and avoid nuisance.

Overview

Help us care for our residents by providing a clean, neat, and safe environment. Elderwood at Amherst is searching for a full-time and Housekeeping Aides. 7am-3pm shift available, including weekend rotation. Housekeeping team members assist with ensuring the health and wellbeing of our residents by providing housekeeping support. This individual is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of all facility areas, including but not limited to, resident rooms, common areas and offices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of general areas and assigned rooms of residents.
• Help move personal belongings of residents and clean and disinfect floor, furniture, bed and bathroom according to accepted procedures when a resident is discharged or transferred to another room.
• Follow safety rules, and where applicable, maintain vigilance concerning fire regulations and hazards as stated in procedures.
• Practice infection control principles in cleaning methods and personal hygiene.
• Keep cleaning compounds and hazardous substances stored properly for the protection of residents and staff.
• Collect and dispose of trash and other refuse in such a manner that prevents the transmission of disease and does not create a nuisance or fire hazard, nor a breeding place for insects and rodents.

• *Individuals under 18 years of age must be excluded from the usage of dangerous equipment such as: compactors.
• This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
