The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for a full-time housekeeping aid to maintain clean and safe facilities integral to patient care for Veterans. The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications will be on or about 06/03/2026 with subsequent reviews every other week as additional vacancies occur – or on an as‑needed basis – until positions are filled.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date. EXPERIENCE: No specific length of training or experience is required; however, applicants must demonstrate training or experience sufficient to perform the duties. Evidence of knowledge, skills, and ability must be supported by detailed resume descriptions. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN‑OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen‑out element – usually question 1 in the online questionnaire. Qualified applicants are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements: Dexterity and Safety, Follow Directions, Handle Weights and Loads, Reliability and Dependability, Special Aptitude – Housekeeping. Work experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work through National Service programs, professional, philanthropic, religious, or community organizations. Physical effort: continuous walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, pulling, pushing; occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment weighing over 50 lb. Working conditions: primarily indoors with adequate heat, light, and ventilation.
The position is in the competitive service. Interchange agreements with other merit systems are available under specific conditions. Relocation, retention, and other incentives are not authorized.
