Job summary

South Mountain Healthcare is seeking a Per Diem Housekeeping team member to join our facility in Summit, NJ. This role focuses on maintaining quality housekeeping and laundry services across patient and non-patient areas.

The successful candidate will follow schedules, perform daily cleaning tasks (floors, carpets, walls), handle waste, and ensure safety protocols. Weekend work is required and experience in healthcare facilities is essential.

Qualifications

• 2-year experience in healthcare facilities.
• Weekends are required.
• Pay is $15.92/hr.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the delivery of quality Housekeeping/Laundry services.
• Receives and follows housekeeping schedule/instructions as assigned.
• Performs specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
• Cleans floors to include sweeping, dusting damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
• Cleans carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting.
• Cleans walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
• Removes dirt, dust grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Replaces cubicle curtains as assigned
• Discards waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
• Ensures that work/assignment areas including resident, non-resident, areas, porter closets, and housekeeping storage rooms are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the workday. (e)
• Discards infectious wastes/sharps containers into appropriate containers.
• Performs unscheduled Housekeeping/Laundry tasks as directed
• Maintains equipment and Housekeeping supplies: Ensures Housekeeping supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary
• Keeps immediate supervisor informed of supply needs.
• Ensures that the facility and its equipment is properly maintained for resident safety, comfort and convenience.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to supervisor as soon as possible.
• Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies
• Assists others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested.
