We are looking for a Housekeeping Assistant/Laundry Aid to join our team at Iowa City Rehab & Health Care Center!
Position Summary
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Housekeeping Assistant, Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services with other departments.
- Maintain equipment and supply carts and ensure supplies are properly stocked.
- Ensure lighting is in proper working order.
- Assist others in lifting as requested.
- Clean rooms, offices, and common areas (vacuuming, wiping, mopping, polishing, etc.), and straighten items.
- Ensure residents' rooms are safe, comfortable, and attractive, safeguarding personal items.
- Clean up spills, soiled areas, and other conditions as observed or directed.
- Ensure equipment and work areas are safe, adhering to procedures regarding cleaners or hazardous materials.
- Follow infection control, safety, and sanitation practices.
- Report hazardous conditions, incidents, and accidents promptly.
- Strip, wax, and buff floors as directed, move and replace furniture.
- Clean storage and exterior areas as directed.
As a Laundry Aid, Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include:
- Sort, clean, wash, dry, and fold linen according to facility procedures.
- Prepare linen carts for nursing personnel.
- Handle linen services for other departments as required.
- Follow sanitation and infection control procedures.
- Coordinate with facility departments regarding linen delivery and report to Supervisor.
- Assist or prepare laundry personnel schedules.
- Report equipment problems to the Supervisor.
- Sort and inventory linen, and notify Supervisor of replacement needs.
- Prepare special linen packets and monitor linen quality.
- Maintain communication between Laundry Department and Supervisor.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications including minimum skills, experience, and education required include:
- Related experience necessary to accomplish the job.
- Previous housekeeping/laundry experience in a long-term care facility is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to relate positively to residents and families, and work cooperatively with staff.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Meet all health regulations, pass physical exams, drug screening, background checks, and references.
