Job summary

Gurwin Healthcare System in Commack, NY seeks a dedicated Housekeeper for the DAY SHIFT 8AM-4PM, including every weekend, to uphold a clean, safe, and compassionate environment for residents. The role emphasizes sanitation, patient comfort, and teamwork within a premier long-term care campus.

You’ll perform routine cleaning in assigned areas, operate equipment safely, and support a dynamic care team. Experience in hospital or nursing home settings is preferred, with a focus on dementia care

Qualifications

• Experience in a hospital or nursing home setting preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia population and related behaviors helpful.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions and adapt to new methods.

Responsibilities

• Keep assigned areas clean, sanitary and aseptic by scrubbing, mopping, polishing, and dusting.
• Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment and ensure it is clean and safe to use.

We are currently seeking a Housekeeper for our DAY SHIFT 8AM-4PM which will include EVERY WEEKENDwho will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Duties include keeping assigned areas clean, sanitary and aseptic by scouring, scrubbing, mopping, polishing, using germicides, including wet and dry dusting.
• Candidate must have the ability to use equipment and keep it neat and clean according to department requirements.

Requirements include:

• Candidates with experience in a hospital or nursing home preferred.
• Knowledge of the dementia population and dealing with related behaviors.
• Understands written and oral instruction.
• Understands and absorbs new work methods.
• Capable of completing schedules effectively.Capable of standing and walking for prolonged periods of time.
