Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY is seeking a Housekeeper (Custodian) to join our facilities team. The role supports a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, clients, and veterinary professionals, with full-time preferred and part-time considered.

Responsibilities include cleaning exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and common spaces, plus handling laundry and general janitorial tasks. Excellent attention to detail and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or cleaning experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Professional, respectful, and team-oriented attitude.
• Comfortable working in an animal hospital environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, stretching, and moving throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions when necessary.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and common spaces throughout the hospital
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces
• Remove trash and dispose of waste according to hospital protocols
• Clean and restock restrooms and staff areas
• Restock supplies throughout the hospital as needed
• Assist with laundry and linen management
• Follow hospital sanitation, safety, and infection-control procedures
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for patients, clients, and staff
• Assist with snow removal and facility-related emergencies when needed

Compensation: $18-25/hour
