Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian in Plainview, NY to provide high-level emergency care for companion animals. The position includes day and overnight shifts with rotating weekends, offering a sign-on and relocation bonus options.

You will join a collaborative, clinician-led team within a network focused on advancing emergency veterinary medicine and supporting ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state licensure.
• Completion of a rotating internship or experience practicing emergency medicine is preferred.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills are essential for high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to a diverse caseload of companion animals.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for urgent and emergent medical conditions.
• Provide comprehensive emergency care with triage, stabilization, and ongoing management of hospitalized patients.

Ideal for any emergency practitioners within the Ethos network looking to deepen their expertise in emergency practice. This path lets you stay in your current Ethos network hospital, enjoying your full wages and benefits while practicing at an Ethos hospital and pursuing board certification.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Deliver high-quality emergency and critical care to a diverse caseload of companion animals.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions.
• Provide comprehensive emergency care through a balanced mix of receiving new emergency cases, triaging incoming patients, and managing hospitalized patients throughout their course of treatment.
• Perform emergency procedures and stabilize critically ill or injured patients using evidence-based medicine.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Completion of a rotating internship or experience practicing emergency medicine is preferred (or equivalent clinical experience).
• Confidence managing emergency cases and making sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
