Job Location: Pioneer Senior Living at Upland Park - Huntsville, AL

Salary Range: $15.75

Summary: Responsible for demonstrating and promoting SRIM's core value of the Golden Rule, treating others (residents, families, and associates) in the same way we would like to be treated. Under direct supervision, providing a variety of housekeeping and/or laundry duties while maintaining the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow established cleaning schedules.
  2. Complete daily dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of all common areas.
  3. Perform deep cleaning of resident rooms as scheduled.
  4. Clean administrative offices as scheduled.
  5. Sanitize bathrooms.
  6. Clean carpets and mop all floors upon request.
  7. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for all residents.
  8. Support a dignified and caring atmosphere for residents, families, visitors, and staff.
  9. Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from residents, families, and visitors.
  10. Interact with residents showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.
  11. Communicate effectively in a language each resident understands.
  12. Maintain a safe environment free of hazards that could cause harm or falls.
  13. Practice good body mechanics and safe working habits.
  14. Report safety hazards immediately to a supervisor.
  15. Assist colleagues when requested or required.
  16. Follow established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  17. Remain on-site during emergencies or inclement weather until released by a supervisor.
  18. Work as a team with other staff and management.
  19. Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  20. Comply with attendance policies.
  21. Participate in trainings, in-services, and mandatory meetings.
  22. Wear appropriate, clean attire per dress code.
  23. Avoid discussing resident issues with families and visitors; refer inquiries to nursing staff.
  24. Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  25. Assist nursing staff with hands-on support as needed.
  26. Participate in leisure activities as per the activity calendar.
  27. Serve and assist residents in dining rooms during meals.
  28. Willingly undertake special projects or assignments outside regular duties.
  29. Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED; or one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, and communicate. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Occasionally exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Accommodations may be made for disabilities.
