Overview

The Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of common areas and amenities within the community.

The Housekeeper provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintains cleanliness in common areas such as hallways, lobbies, and elevators.
  2. Removes litter, trash, and debris from all areas of the community.
  3. Empties trash receptacles, ashtrays, and waste baskets regularly, disposing of waste properly.
  4. Vacuums, sweeps, polishes, and mops floors.
  5. Straightens furniture in common areas as needed.
  6. Dusts and polishes furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces to maintain a neat and tidy appearance.
  7. Polishes and cleans windows, glass doors, brass, mirrors, and the like to ensure they are free of smudges and streaks.
  8. Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, including countertops, sinks, and appliances.
  9. Restocks supplies such as towels, toilet paper, and soap dispensers as needed.
  10. Sanitizes all bathroom bowls, sinks, partitions, and urinals daily and/or as needed.
  11. Clean and organize clubhouse including restrooms, shower stalls, fitness equipment, storage rooms.
  12. Assists with the setup, breakdown, and cleaning of meeting rooms for events.
  13. Maintains supply and PPE inventory and assists supervisor with ordering supplies as needed.
  14. Completes necessary checklists and/or work orders as assigned.
  15. Reports any equipment that is not working or malfunctioning and unsafe conditions to Management (i.e. lights out, trip hazards, electronic doors, etc.).
  16. Maintains a safe and secure work environment throughout the building/property(s).
  17. Ensures all safety precautions are followed and proper usage of PPE while performing duties.
  18. Assists with monitoring move-ins/outs in property.
  19. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
  2. 1+ year as a Housekeeper or similar position.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) required.

Skills and Abilities

  1. Skilled in operating select mechanical and electrical equipment (i.e. vacuum, mops, leaf blower, pressure washer, etc.).
  2. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are required to understand cleaning and safety guidelines.
  3. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to help create effective customer-focused relationships with all levels within the organization.
  4. Able to work under tight deadlines and use time effectively based on key priorities.
  5. Basic command of computer hardware/software is required.
  6. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Excellent attention to detail.
  8. Strong problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  10. Communicate, receive, and exchange ideas and information by means of spoken and written communication.

  1. Able to work under pressure, maintain composure, and utilize good judgment during emergency/difficult and stressful situations.
  2. Ability to lift 40 lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
  3. Ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods of time.
  4. Ability to crawl in small and tight spaces.
  5. Ability to work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain).
  6. Ability to walk and climb stairs.
  7. Ability to stoop and bend.
  8. Extensive use of fingers for typing and visual use of the computer monitor.
  9. Ability to handle, grasp, and feel objects and equipment.
  10. Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  11. Ability to quickly and easily navigate property/buildings is required to meet the job functions.
  12. Ability to repeat various motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.
  13. Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms.
  14. Ability to learn on the job.
  15. May be required to perform work outdoors during all seasons.
  16. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights above ground level.
  17. Ability to hear, understand, and respond appropriately to verbal requests made in person and over the telephone.
  18. Visual ability correctable to 20/20.
  19. Ability to respond verbally in an understandable, professional manner in person and over the telephone.
  20. May be required to travel for training sessions off-site.
  21. Ability to work extended hours and weekends if needed.
