Summary/Objective:

Provides daily housekeeping services to patients/residents to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment in accordance with laws, regulations, and facility guidelines.

Essential Functions:

• Provides daily housekeeping duties as assigned per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Follows daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
• Cleans floors, including dust mopping, wet mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.
• Cleans furnishings that are both moveable and stationary throughout the facility.
• Cleans fixtures including restrooms, light fixtures, water fountains, etc.
• Dusts and disinfects horizontal surfaces throughout the facility.
• Removes trash and cleans/disinfects waste containers.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms in both resident rooms and public spaces.
• Cleans public spaces including corridors, stairwells, elevators, waiting rooms, lobby, etc.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work areas as assigned by the Manager.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Attends in-service educational programs.
• Follows safety codes while performing all duties.
• Understands and follows facility’s fire and disaster plans during drills and emergencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping/EVS department.

Work Environment:

This position requires lifting up to 40 pounds. The work is primarily throughout the facility, including resident rooms. It involves bending, lifting, sitting, standing, and moving frequently. The role may involve dealing with upset residents and family members, working scheduled shifts with potential weekends and holidays, and participating in continuing education. The environment includes exposure to odors, falls, burns, infectious diseases, waste, blood, and body fluids.

Physical Demands:

Continuous standing and walking, reaching, stooping, bending, lifting, carrying, and working with cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Must be free from infections or diseases and able to lift up to 40 pounds.

Position Details:

This is an hourly position with expected hours including days, evenings, some weekends, and holidays. The shift is from 3pm to 11pm.

Required Education and Experience:

• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• At least one year of housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of cleaning and infection prevention
