Job summary

Webster County Community Hospital is seeking a part-time housekeeper to maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

You will follow approved cleaning methods, schedule tasks, report repairs, use PPE, and coordinate with other departments to ensure spaces such as patient rooms, hallways and common areas stay sanitary.

Qualifications

• Previous healthcare cleaning preferred but not required.
• Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks with consistency.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE at all times.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas using approved methods to prevent spread of disease.
• Prepare and follow daily assignment schedule including routine and special cleaning tasks.
• Inspect facility premises while performing duties.
• Report repairs and maintenance needs to hospital maintenance department.
• Communicate with staff for unscheduled cleaning of rooms.
• Use correct formula when mixing chemicals and wear PPE.
• Ensure rooms are free of trash and debris; vacuum and mop daily.
• Assist other departments with cleaning as needed.
• Maintain safety signs and caution cones when appropriate.
• Perform additional cleaning such as windows, walls, baseboards, and air vents if regular tasks are completed.

Description

The housekeeper is responsible for providing a clean, orderly, attractive and safe environment for patients, visitors and employees of all facilitites represented by Webster County Communtiy Hospital.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (6 hours per week) (Part-Time)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans assigned areas by approved methods to prevent spread of disease.


• Prepares and follows daily assignment schedule to include routine duties as well as special cleaning as assigned or as circumstances prevail.


• Inspects facility premises while performing duties.


• Reports repairs and maintenance needs to hospital maintenance department.


• Communicates with staff for unscheduled cleaning of rooms.


• Uses correct formula when mixing chemicals.


• Wears proper Personal Protective Equipment while cleaning and using chemicals.


• Ensures rooms are free of trash.


• Vacuums hallways daily and as needed.


• Mops daily or when needed Helps other departments with cleaning as needed.


• Ensures safety signs and caution cones are used when appropriate.


• Performs additional cleaning - windows, walls, baseboards, pictures, bases of chairs, air vents (with Swiffer), etc. - if regular tasks are completed.


• Performs all other duties as assigned by Maintenance and/or Materials Director or Administrator.


• Works well and communicates with other housekeeping staff, if applicable.


• Possesses strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.


• Demonstrates strong work ethic and dependability, maintaining consistent and predictable schedule.


• Communicates absences with as much notice as possible.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Previous work experience within healthcare setting preferred but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed here are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, stand; use hands and fingers and be able to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be standing for long periods of time. The employee will be required to lift, push, and move up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and 25-50 pounds on an occasional basis. The employee may have to be on knees for extended amount of time to clean chair bases, baseboards, etc. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision with the ability to focus.
