Housekeeper | The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place | Williamsburg, Virginia

About the Job:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment in patient care areas by performing cleaning tasks in a sanitary and orderly manner. They also advise supervisors on environmental services equipment needs and ensure scheduled disposal of infectious waste and confidential materials.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Perform cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing fixtures, and cleaning bathrooms daily.
2. Clean facility rooms, baths, laboratories, offices, and hallways using appropriate equipment like buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
3. Wash bed frames, change mattresses, and remake beds after patient discharges when applicable.
4. Keep utility and storage rooms organized and tidy.
5. Operate commercial laundry equipment to launder linens as directed.
6. Transport soiled linens to storage and distribute laundered items, adhering to infection control standards.
7. Maintain floors by sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing, while paying attention to slip and fall hazards.
8. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstery, and draperies; dust furniture and equipment.
9. Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, and door panels.
10. Empty wastebaskets and transport trash to disposal areas.
11. Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, and equipment using appropriate germicides.
12. Check inventory of cleaning supplies and linen daily, ensuring adequate stock.
13. Clean and store equipment and supplies properly after each shift.
14. Follow standard and universal precautions, including MSDS instructions for encountered materials.
15. Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for facility events.
16. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous housekeeping experience in healthcare or related environments is also preferred.
