Job summary

Yeshiva University is seeking a Housekeeper to perform daily cleaning of private and public areas across the Wilf Campus, ensuring a safe, clean environment. The role includes shift hours on Sunday and weekdays, with responsibilities ranging from restroom sanitation to snow removal and function setup.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma and at least 1 year of housekeeping experience, able to lift up to 50 lbs, and familiar with cleaning methods and equipment.

  • Must be able to work majority of the day walking, twisting, bending, pushing, and kneeling while working.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of floor and carpet care and equipment such as refinishing, scrubbing, hi-speed burnishing, polishing, shampooing, and extraction.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery and/or equipment such as BobCat, Forklift, Snow Blowers, Plows, and drive the University’s vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Restrooms must be cleaned, monitored, and replenished daily, including disinfecting basins, urinals, and toilets, and sweeping/mopping floors.
  • Replenish all dispensers as needed and report damaged units.
  • Remove trash and recycling as needed.
  • Periodic cleaning of floors, dusting furniture, vents, corridors, and staircases.
  • Snow removal using shovels and power equipment.
  • Set up tables and chairs for functions; move furniture as required.
  • Operate university vehicles to transport garbage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

A Housekeeper is primarily responsible for daily cleaning routines of private and public areas such as offices, laboratories, cafeterias, conference rooms, restrooms, dormitories, corridors, stairs, water fountains, elevators, doors, and walls, while ensuring a safe and risk-preventive environment.

The work schedule is from Sunday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Monday - Thursday 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Restrooms must be cleaned, monitored, and replenished on a daily basis, which includes disinfecting all basins, urinals, and toilet bowls and sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Replenish all dispensers as needed while reporting any damaged or malfunctioning units to a manager or supervisor.
  • Remove trash and recycling as needed.
  • Periodic cleaning such as vacuuming, mopping, and waxing/buffing floors; dusting office furniture, vents, corridors, and staircases.
  • Snow removal (by use of shovels and power equipment).
  • Setting up tables and chairs for functions;
  • Moving furniture as required
  • Operate motor vehicle to transport garbage as needed.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Experience & Educational Background:

  • High School Diploma and 1 year of housekeeping experience is required.

Salary Range:

Grade 1.a

1199 New Hire rate : $25.81 and 1199 One Year of Service rate: $26.32
