Location: RWJBH, 165 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

This position is scheduled to start in April 2025. At this time, RWJBH may be able to accommodate an earlier start date and will review opportunities to do so during the interview process.

Job Overview:

Cleans all patient and non-patient areas of the hospital, and other areas as directed.

Essential Functions:

1. Dust, damp mop, spot clean and disinfect fixtures, furnishings in both patient and non-patient areas.
2. Vacuum and spot-clean mats and carpets, as assigned.
3. Empty, clean and re-line waste baskets.
4. Transport regular and contaminated waste/linen to the utility room or proper areas.
5. Wash and disinfect bed/crib at discharge and prepare beds for new occupants.
6. Follow isolation cleaning procedures when cleaning isolation rooms to prevent the spread of pathogens.
7. Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls as far as can be reached and replenish bathroom supplies if necessary.
8. Notify supervisor when supplies in the Environmental Services storage room are low.
9. Report work orders when repairs are needed in assigned areas.
10. Maintain tools and equipment in good condition; responsible for economical use of supplies.
11. Operate machines and equipment for floor and carpet maintenance as needed.
12. Deliver clean linen throughout the facility.
13. Attend in-service, meetings, and educational programs to enhance professional growth.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Rotating Weekends and Holidays required.
• Shift working: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficient in using common housecleaning implements.
• Ability to follow oral or written instructions.
• Work with concern for safety of all individuals.
• Interact positively with coworkers for effective patient care.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Include bending, stooping, and stretching.
