Job summary

The position is onsite at 1133 Centre Street with evening shifts and a 20-hour weekly schedule. English proficiency and the ability to stand for long periods are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Not required but experience in healthcare or environmental services is beneficial.
• Communication: Ability to understand and converse in English to perform job safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean, safe, orderly, and attractive environment across hospital departments and patient areas.
• Performs discharge cleaning as needed.
• Performs all environmental services tasks and follows department guidelines.
• Performs 8-step cleaning procedures including daily cleaning, bed making, and corridor cleaning.
• Cleans patient equipment, beds, and room furnishings as requested by supervisor.
• Assists in moves, room setups, and special conference room arrangements.
• Uses proper chemicals for assigned tasks and responds to spill cleanup as required.

Summary

Supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values by maintaining a clean, safe, orderly, and attractive environment throughout all hospital departments, patient areas, support areas, and hospital-controlled areas. Performs discharge cleaning as needed.

Essential Functions

Physical demands include the ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, and lift.

Performs the 8-step cleaning procedures, including daily cleaning, discharge cleaning, bed making, wall spotting, toilet cleaning, high and low dusting, and O.R. terminal cleaning.

Works in a professional and safe manner.

Always uses caution signs and cones.

Completes work from the previous shift as needed and reports all incomplete assignments and maintenance issues.

Cleans up organic body waste, including blood and body fluids, feces, and sputum, as instructed by the supervisor or team leader.

Hangs cubicle curtains, shower curtains, and window curtains.

Upon discharge cleaning, disinfects and/or sanitizes I.V. poles, pumps, and other patient equipment.

Ability to learn and demonstrate new procedures related to the healthcare industry.

• - Performs all environmental services tasks demonstrating services orientation to fellow employees, staff and patients.
• - Cleans patient equipment as requested by supervisor including beds and all room furnishings.
• - Assists in manpower support for office and/or related moves, special conference room set-ups and any other occasions as required.
• - Competent in using the proper chemicals for the proper tasks.
• - Ability to perform cleaning of emergency spills when observed and/or up on request.
• - In case of community disaster, assist nursing in making up extra beds and other duties as assigned.
