The House Supervisor, Manager is a registered nurse who manages overall hospital operations on the day, evening, night, weekend, and/or holiday shifts using leadership skills and clinical and administrative operations expertise.
Responsibilities
- Create and model an environment fostering collegial relationships among nursing and other department personnel. Serve as a connector between nursing personnel and other healthcare or support disciplines throughout the hospital(s). Demonstrate teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departments using effective communication that respects diverse opinions and styles and acknowledges the assistance and contributions of others.
- Interact with on-call senior management during weekends and holiday hours.
- Hold staff accountable for quality care delivery, service standards, and professional behaviors. Maintain clinical knowledge and expertise to supervise and assess staff competence.
- Support ongoing learning and skill development for self and staff; provide coaching and mentoring; assign stretch goals, cross-training, and other career development opportunities.
- Identify individual team members’ skills and interests; provide timely, positive, constructive feedback; address performance gaps with clear action plans and timelines for improvement.
- Assist with scheduling and staffing of personnel including authorization and approval of LOWS, schedule changes, and overtime. Coach charge nurses and assist nurse managers in resource utilization to maintain HPPD metrics.

Qualifications
Required:- Licensed RN in Illinois
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- Completion of aggressive behavior management training within 2 years
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing supervisory experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:- MSN or healthcare-related degree
- 5+ years nursing management experience
- PALS certification
- Specialty certifications
- ACLS certification (preferred at NMH)
