Qualifications

Job Description
The House Supervisor, Manager reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.

The House Supervisor, Manager is a registered nurse responsible for managing hospital operations during various shifts, utilizing leadership skills and clinical and administrative expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Create an environment fostering collegial relationships among nursing and other departments. Serve as a connector across disciplines, demonstrating teamwork and effective communication.
  • Interact with on-call senior management during weekends and holidays.
  • Hold staff accountable for quality care, service standards, and professional behaviors. Maintain clinical knowledge to supervise and assess staff competence.
  • Support ongoing learning, provide coaching, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
  • Identify team members’ skills and interests; provide feedback and address performance gaps with action plans.
  • Assist with staffing and scheduling, including approvals and resource utilization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Business Expertise:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective leadership and influence without direct authority.
  • Change management principles application.
  • Proficiency in EMR and related applications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Problem Solving:

  • Balance priorities, seek guidance, and lead through solutions.
  • Respond calmly to changes and manage others through disruptions.
  • Guide team in solving complex problems.
  • Build partnerships and serve as a role model.

Interactions/Interpersonal Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills; establish effective relationships with patients, staff, and management.
  • Exude confidence and professionalism; demonstrate servant leadership.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Licensed RN in Illinois
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Completion of management of aggressive behavior training within 2 years
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical supervisory experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred:

  • MSN or healthcare-related degree
  • 5 years of nursing management experience
  • PALS certification
  • Specialty certification
  • ACLS certification (preferred at NMH)
