Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a House Supervisor (RN) for the Sussex Campus Hospital on a full-time night shift. The role leads nursing staff, coordinates staffing with medical and OR personnel, and ensures adherence to hospital policies and patient-centered care during off-hours.

Requires a Bachelor of Nursing, RN license, and BLS/ACLS, with at least 3 years acute care experience. Salary range is hourly, with comprehensive benefits and on-site amenities; the position is based in Sussex

• Basic Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and follows departmental policies, quality and safety standards.

• Communicates effectively with department staff and coordinates patient placement and bed utilization.
• Oversees patient care assignments to ensure quality and safety across age groups.

SALARY RANGE: 45.06 - 69.85 HOURLY

General Summary:

The House Supervisor is a nurse leader / registered professional nurse who assume responsibility for staffing, correlation between medical staff and OR personnel for scheduling cases and resource knowledge of hospital policies and procedures. Represents nursing administration within the hospital during off-hours. Provides support and knowledge to nursing staff and/or ancillary departments and is called upon to intervene as necessary to ensure optimal patient centered care.

Responsibilities:

• Maintains and follows established departmental policies and procedures, standards of care, quality improvement plan, safety guidelines, environmental and infection control standards.
• Performs all duties with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned units i.e. neonates, infants, school age children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.
• Maintains effective communication with department staff responsible for providing direct patient care to ensure emerging problems are quickly identified and interventions initiated.
• Assesses the workload of the department and the skills level of assigned personnel in order to ensure assignments are made for optimum quality of care.
• Supervises patient placement to assure patient comfort, safety, and maximum utilization of beds.
• Utilizes appropriate chain of command to refer constructive ideas and pertinent problems.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor Degree Nursing
• Credential(s): Basic Life Support; Registered Nurse; Certification related to the position, if applicable. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
• Experience: Required: 3 years of acute care experience

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Master Degree Nursing
• Credential(s): Nurse Executive - Board Certified
