Salary Scale: Hourly-Teacher Salary Schedule

Rate Range: $32.12-$68.90

Placement on the Salary Scale is based on verified years of experience and degree

Job Summary

The Jackson County School System is seeking an Hourly Tutor to support students participating in the Migrant Education Program. The tutor will provide individualized and small-group academic support to help students strengthen skills, complete coursework, and make continued academic progress. Ideal candidates will have experience working with school-aged students and an ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Candidates should be dependable, flexible, patient, and able to collaborate effectively with teachers, families, and school staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Some college, at least 3 years with admittance into an education program
• Experience working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, or socioeconomic backgrounds
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide academic support based on individual student needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree with teaching experience
• Experience tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or otherwise working with school-aged students
• Experience working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, or socioeconomic backgrounds
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to provide academic support based on individual student needs
• Bilingual skills, particularly Spanish/English, are preferred but not required

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a standard in-person school environment
• Sedentary work: May require lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like files, ledgers, and small tools
• Travel between schools will be required
• Consistent mode of transportation required
