Hotel Operations Supervisor

Job Summary

This position is responsible for greeting and receiving hotel guests, vehicle valet, handling luggage and packages and providing general customer services duties for all guests with an emphasis on the ensuring the exceptional begin to end hotel stay experience for guests. The incumbent provides guest relations services, responding to guests’ requests for transportation such as transport service, taxi’s, bus, etc.…); ensures all guest luggage services and delivery are handled, provides general hotel and local tourist information, and generally assists guests with questions and concerns. The incumbent ensures the guests receive the best and superior customer service available and is expected to ensure superior hotel standards are maintained, policies and processes are followed.

Responsibilities, Duties & Accountabilities
  • Primarily responsibility for receiving guest valet and vehicle, processing and parking in the designated location, ensuring safety practices are followed and following hotel policies in a professional manner
  • Works closely with co-workers to provide greeting/valet/check-in (luggage) experience, and other guest deliveries, coordination of guest transportation, luggage delivery to rooms and vehicle, valet service, etc.
  • Works closely with the Guest Relations Co‑Workers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of guest luggage and packages
  • Ensures timely and accurate receipts and deliveries to guests
  • Provides exceptional services to guests, such as greetings, opening doors, offering assistance as needed, and ensuring all aspects of the lobby/reception areas, ensuring a superior guest experience
  • Assists and supports Guest Relations in additional concierge services, ensuring updated knowledge of local and tourist activities, places to visit, shopping, etc.…, makes appropriate and knowledgeable suggestions for guests for local area activities and events (arts, entertainment, food, etc.…)
  • Effectively and professionally addresses guests’ complaints, tactfully and courteously handling and resolving concerns, ensuring quick resolution and guest satisfaction; documenting and bringing them to the attention of the Supervisor, involving the Supervisor as appropriate
  • Maintains professional working relationships with co‑workers, vendors and the general public
  • Conducts routine inspections of public spaces for cleanliness and exceptional appearance
  • Working with all management and the Security Guard(s) to address safety or threats and ensures overall safety of guests, employees and general public
  • Other projects and duties as assigned
  • Regular and routine attendance and punctuality is required
  • Availability and willingness to work evenings, week‑ends and holidays

Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalence
  • 2‑3 years’ work experience in Hotel/Hospitality, as a Valet, Porter, Host, Concierge, Customer Service Representative or in a Business‑Related capacity
  • Demonstrated above‑average knowledge of Hotel/Hospitality related operations
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills, preferably working with Microsoft Office products, Hotel Systems and programs and the ability to successfully navigate and maintain current knowledge and skills working with technology
  • Demonstrated customer service experience working with the general public and the ability to tactfully and professionally address public concerns and complaints
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, exercising tact and professionalism in all matters
  • Demonstrated professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic business logic while making sound decisions under pressure
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in dealing with sensitive information, exercising considerable discretion and good judgment, demonstrated conscientious and dependable

The following physical demands are requirements and must be met in order for the successful performance of the job position: This position requires the incumbent to speak, hear, see, stand for long periods of time, walk frequently and use full reach and range of motion in arms, hands and fingers, with continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi‑manual dexterity and fine motor skills, to bend, stoop, kneel and lift (floor to waist – up to 25 lbs., waist to shoulders – up to 20 lbs.), carry, push, pull and frequently climb stairs.
