Job summary

Baywood Hotels is seeking a Maintenance/Engineering leader to manage daily operations of the department and uphold established standards. You will interview, train, and supervise staff, oversee budgeting, safety, and energy conservation, and coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.

The role emphasizes professional image, guest satisfaction, and adherence to Brand and Baywood standards, with responsibility for incident reporting and program implementation.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in vocational field and/or vocational training in mechanical, architectural engineering, refrigeration, heating and cooling, or plumbing field. On-the-job training may substitute for educational/vocational training requirements.
• Minimum three years maintenance experience with 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, selects & trains associates
• Motivates staff through positive reinforcement, and leading by example
• Provides input during the preparation of the annual budget
• Attends required meetings and training
• Conducts departmental and other required meetings for which s/he is responsible
• Ensures that established back-up/emergency procedures are in place
• Ensures that all departmental policies and procedures are adhered to
• Implements Baywood & Brand promotional programs and procedures
• Ensures a professional image is portrayed at all times by associates under supervision
• Monitors cleanliness and neatness of departments
• Monitors inventory of supplies, placing orders in a timely manner
• Communicates with other departments for seamless operation
• Ensures equipment is maintained properly
• Maintains departmental communication
• Administers disciplinary action and performance appraisals
• Prepares weekly schedule and monitors payroll
• Reviews departmental checklists and audits
• Monitors expenses and payroll
• Monitors time records and secures payroll documents
• Participates in safety initiatives and safety committee
• Completes incident reports and takes action
• Performs Manager on Duty as needed
• Participates in BEAR activities and community service
• Additional duties may be added by management
• Maintains energy conservation program
• Maintains outside contractor performance per lease agreements
• Prevents and addresses maintenance issues promptly
• Maintains equipment records and preventive maintenance programs
• Responds to guest service requests for repairs or replacements
• Maintains budgeted labor standards and improves guest satisfaction via staff development
