Job summary

Opal-Hotels-Group, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for Element Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, VA. This part-time role focuses on keeping engineering systems in top condition, complying with safety standards, and providing excellent guest experiences.

You will perform preventive maintenance, handle repairs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, and coordinate with front office and housekeeping to meet Opal brand standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or related vocational training
• At least 1 year maintenance experience (preferably at a hotel)
• Must be able to lift heavy objects
• Must speak fluent English (other languages such as Spanish preferred)
• In depth knowledge of HVAC / PTAC units, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry (tile, carpet, sheet rock, etc.)
• CPO certification – if the hotel has a pool, a Certified Pool Operator license would be ideal

Responsibilities

• Send a daily end of day activity and accomplishment email to the Facilities Manager, General Manager and a copy to the Opal Director of Operations
• Understand and use the property management system and facilities management software to communicate daily activities
• Perform, administer, and document preventative maintenance programs
• Complete work orders on a timely basis
• Respond to and attend to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve issues
• Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repair on equipment including plumbing, electrical and fixtures
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed
