Job summary

The Catamaran Hotel & Spa in San Diego is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Engineer IV to perform hotel facility maintenance across plumbing, electrical systems, and equipment repair. Prior hotel or similar setting experience preferred; knowledge of environmental control in guest spaces is valued.

Responsibilities include completing assigned tasks and preventive maintenance, leading safety practices, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years technical training or 2-4 years of college.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
• Strong HVAC experience a plus.
• Unexpired and valid driver's license with no recent violations.
• Previous similar position in a hotel or similar business entity preferred.
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and day or night shift required.
• Ability to maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods, up to and including the entire shift, and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Experience in dealing with the public preferred.
• Previous experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R, and kitchen equipment preferred.
• Position will be filled in accordance with California Labor Code Section 2810.8 and San Diego Municipal Code 311.0101 et. seq.

Responsibilities

• Complete all assigned tasks in proficiency categories.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks.
• Complete repair and maintenance work orders.
• Inventories and procurement of parts and supplies.
• Accident prevention and safety.
• Energy conservation.
• Neatness and cleanliness of the engineering shop and all areas under the direct control of the department.
• Lead or otherwise facilitate the transfer of information regarding priorities, assignments, and problem solving at the various briefing sessions each day.
• Fire Alarm/Life Safety System: monitor systems and handle emergencies.
• Energy Conservation: observe and analyze energy usage and report ideas to Engineering Management.
• Emergencies: be available for emergencies and protect guests and the building.
• Accident Prevention and Safety: maintain safe environment and correct hazards.
• Records: log and interpret readings; maintain daily activity logs.
