Job description

What Makes a McKibbon Maintenance Engineer?

As a leading member of the property management team, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring proper hotel operations. This includes overseeing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pool, and general facilities maintenance. You will report to the General Manager and are expected to maintain high-quality standards to minimize guest disruption.

A Day in the Life:

  • Monitor and maintain the interior and exterior operations of the property.
  • Communicate operational activities, priorities, and issues with management engineers and supervisors.
  • Perform trades such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, basic HVAC, pool maintenance, painting, and caulking.
  • Occasionally train others in these trades.
  • Follow McKibbon Hospitality guidelines to protect company assets and ensure safety for associates and guests.
  • Engage positively with associates and guests.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a lead maintenance role.
  • Experience in hotel maintenance (highly preferred).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Negotiation skills with service providers for cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to estimate labor time for maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of common equipment malfunctions and preventative maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to test pool and spa chemicals.
  • Skill in identifying tools, parts, and equipment for maintenance jobs.
  • Basic repair skills for heating and air conditioning systems.
  • Proficiency in painting and caulking.
  • Knowledge of standard hand tools and their use.

  • Judgment in responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Scheduling skills to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Fire safety skills, including use of fire hoses and extinguishers.

  • Experience in hiring and training employees.
  • Ability to foster a positive learning environment.
