Night auditors are responsible for keeping hotel operations running overnight, overseeing the transition from one day to the next, and acting as the responsible staff member during those hours. They handle accounting responsibilities and guest requests.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The night auditor's responsibilities include:
- Handling guest requests during the night, demonstrating the hotel's commitment to service.
- Incident management and de-escalation using company procedures and techniques.
- Conducting the night audit: reconciling guest accounts, verifying room rates, and addressing discrepancies.
- Recording charges, payments, and services for accurate guest folios.
- Maintaining financial records, auditing transactions, and submitting paperwork to the VIP Office.
- Updating room status for operational and security reasons.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies in charges, payments, or reservations.
- Closing daily financial activities and preparing for the next day.
- Conducting security rounds, monitoring CCTV, and addressing security concerns.
- Using property management systems and technology to manage operations.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area and lobby.
- Responding to incidents such as medical emergencies or security breaches, assessing situations, and taking appropriate action.
- Handling guest incidents calmly and effectively, including diffusing tense situations and contacting authorities if needed.
- Adhering to safety and security procedures.
- Troubleshooting IT or system issues with technical aptitude.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
MULTI-LOCATION RESPONSIBILITIES
For The Inn at Nye Beach and The Hotel Sylvia, responsibilities include:
- Handling guest inquiries over the phone, providing service, and escalating as necessary.
- Understanding PMS systems for both locations, including remote night audit responsibilities.
- Conducting security checks and acting as first responder to incidents or emergencies.
- Contacting maintenance or management for urgent issues.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The role requires a diverse skill set:
- High school diploma or GED; 1-3 months related experience or equivalent.
- Attention to detail in financial and guest account management.
- Initiative and ability to work independently.
- Bookkeeping skills, basic math, organization, and time management.
- Customer service skills for late-night guest interactions.
- Analytical thinking for discrepancy detection and incident response.
- Technical aptitude for computer systems and troubleshooting.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- Team collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret safety and operational documents.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
