Job summary

The Lake View Hotel on Mackinac Island is seeking an energetic Maintenance Technician to perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs in guest rooms and public areas under the direction of the Chief Engineer.

You will read blueprints, operate hand and power tools, and maintain logs of work and materials used. HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and basic safety practices are essential components of this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year trade school or equivalent.
• 1–3 years' experience in hotel facilities maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and operating instructions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain hotel facilities and guest rooms ensuring upkeep standards.
• Assist Chief Engineer in overseeing engineering functions.
• Repair plumbing, electrical systems, and hardware in guest rooms and public areas.
• Monitor and test fire alarm and life safety systems; respond to emergencies.
• Document work performed, parts used, and materials on service requests.
• Keep all work areas neat, organized and safe; communicate with guests and staff.
