Job summary

Hilton Universal/Los Angeles is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering Department, oversee maintenance, capital projects, and life-safety systems, and ensure safe, efficient operations across hotel facilities. You will manage a team, coordinate with departments, and drive operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field and 5–10 years of progressive experience, including leadership in a hotel setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of progressive experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a full-service hotel or high-volume commercial property preferred.
• Proven track record managing building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and participate in maintenance, repair, and operation of all hotel facilities and spaces.
• Oversee troubleshooting and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life-safety systems.
• Conduct routine property inspections and implement corrective actions for safety and efficiency.
• Lead preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
• Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance projects.
• Respond to emergencies and operational issues as needed.
• Supervise engineering staff, assign daily work orders, and manage training.
• Coordinate capital improvement projects and contractor oversight.
• Maintain records, permits, and compliance documents; manage CMMS data.
• Oversee purchasing, inventory, and safety compliance.
