Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking a Chief Engineer for TownePlace Suites by Marriott Saraland. Lead the Engineering and Maintenance teams to keep the hotel safe, efficient, and compliant with Marriott standards while managing preventative maintenance, repairs, and budgets.

You will oversee equipment, building systems, and guest service reliability, mentor a capable team, and coordinate with vendors to maintain property excellence and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Chief Engineer or similar hotel leadership
• Hands-on knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems
• Experience leading a maintenance team
• Experience managing vendors and maintenance expenses
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Marriott or extended-stay hotel experience preferred
• Flexible schedule including weekends/holidays

Responsibilities

• Lead daily Engineering and Maintenance operations
• Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and develop the Engineering team
• Establish and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, exterior spaces, equipment, and building systems
• Troubleshoot and oversee repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems
• Ensure guest maintenance requests and work orders are addressed promptly
• Respond to maintenance emergencies and coordinate appropriate solutions
• Manage Engineering inventory, tools, equipment, and supplies
• Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors
• Maintain accurate records for preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment
• Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities for operational efficiency
• Support hotel inspections and ensure compliance with Marriott brand, safety, and company standards
• Assist with Engineering-related budgeting, purchasing, and expense control
• Plan and execute maintenance projects, renovations, and property improvements
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire/life-safety requirements, and applicable regulations
• Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance needs before they impact guests
• Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and exceptional service
• Partner with the General Manager and hotel leadership on property condition, maintenance priorities, and capital needs
• Ensure the hotel remains safe, clean, comfortable, efficient, and fully operational
