Job summary

Midas Hospitality in Durango, CO is seeking a dependable Cook to support our Food & Beverage team. You will prepare, season, and cook food for hotel guests, meetings, and dining outlets, following recipes, standards, and safety guidelines.

The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced kitchen, communicates well with guests and colleagues, and helps keep the kitchen clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the shift.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform essential kitchen duties safely, accurately, and consistently.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, portioning, and kitchen sanitation.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to complete routine reports or correspondence when needed.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, associates, and leaders.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, American money, weights, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and work with standardized situations.
• Less than a high school education, up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on hotel and Food & Beverage needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food for guests, meetings, functions, and dining outlets following recipes and standards.
• Follow recipes, menu specs, service standards, and franchise requirements.
• Perform essential kitchen duties safely, accurately, and consistently.
• Read and follow recipes, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Communicate effectively with guests, associates, and leaders.
• Operate ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, steam kettles, and other equipment safely.
• Maintain proper portions and present food as per menu specifications.
• Complete opening, running, and closing side work as assigned each shift.
