Job summary

Hampton Inn & Suites Jackson is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering and Maintenance department, ensuring safe, well-maintained facilities that meet brand standards and guest expectations.

You will supervise a team, develop preventive maintenance programs, manage budgets, and coordinate with vendors and the General Manager on priorities and capital projects to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading hotel engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, life-safety systems.
• Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the hotel Engineering and Maintenance department.
• Lead, train, coach, and develop Maintenance team members.
• Establish and manage preventative maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems.
• Inspect the property regularly and identify maintenance, safety, and capital improvement needs.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life-safety, building, and general maintenance systems.
• Prioritize and manage maintenance work orders and repair requests.
• Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance situations.
• Ensure guest and departmental maintenance requests are handled promptly and professionally.
• Manage Engineering department schedules, staffing, assignments, and daily priorities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, inspections, and required documentation.
• Manage Engineering supplies, tools, equipment, and inventory.
• Coordinate and oversee outside contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Obtain quotes and assist with evaluating repair and replacement needs.
• Assist with annual budgets, capital expenditure planning, and property improvement projects.
• Monitor utility usage and identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost savings.
• Support hotel inspections and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Hilton brand standards, company policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable local regulations.
• Partner with the General Manager and leadership team on property condition, maintenance priorities, renovations, and capital projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and professional Engineering department.
• Promote a culture of accountability, preventative maintenance, teamwork, and exceptional guest service.
