Job summary

Sheraton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Resort, located in Orlando, FL, is seeking an Assist Chief Engineer to oversee building systems and the building envelope, ensuring safety for guests and associates. This role requires hands-on maintenance knowledge across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and related trades.

Qualifications

• Vocational schooling, military training, certification and/or experience in building related trades.
• 1 year of hands-on experience at a comparable location/industry.
• Skills in HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing and landscaping.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, safety programs, budgeting and long-range planning.
• Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure goals are met.
• Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, train, evaluate performance, resolve problems and address discipline when appropriate.
• Implement and schedule preventive maintenance programs per standards and codes.
• Prioritize service requests and monitor service quality for safety and convenience.
• Test life safety systems to ensure 100% operation at all times.
• Monitor utilities and review budgets to meet goals.
• Maintain records, schedules and documentation for smooth operations.
