Shaner Hotels’ AC Hotel Dayton in the Water Street District of Dayton, Ohio, seeks a hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to own the hotel’s maintenance, repairs, and building systems. This role offers a full benefits package and the chance to lead a small team in a premier downtown property.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in hotel engineering/maintenance, solid knowledge of building systems, and strong problem-solving skills. Weekend/evening shifts and travel flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
• Strong hands-on knowledge of building systems and maintenance
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead a small team and work independently
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Trade certification, Marriott experience, and bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and varied shifts as needed

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside the maintenance team.
• Handle daily repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency maintenance.
• Oversee preventive maintenance for guest rooms and hotel facilities.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and building systems.
• Assign daily work, manage work orders, and inspect completed work.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, health, safety, and building codes.
• Manage tools, equipment, supplies, and the Engineering budget.
• Train and support team members while maintaining hotel standards.
• Partner with other departments to ensure a safe and comfortable guest experience.

We’re seeking a hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of the hotel’s maintenance, repairs, and building systems. This is a great opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys being directly involved in the work and ensuring the hotel’s facilities operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Key Responsibilities:
