Job summary

AC Hotel Dayton, part of Shaner Hotels, seeks a hands-on Chief Maintenance Engineer to own hotel maintenance, repairs, and building systems at our Dayton, Ohio property. You’ll lead the maintenance team, oversee daily repairs, and ensure safe, efficient operation to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in hotel engineering, strong troubleshooting ability, and capacity to manage budgets and collaborate with other departments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of building systems and maintenance.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead a small team and work independently.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade training preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Trade certification, Marriott experience, and bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and varied shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside the maintenance team.
• Handle daily repairs, troubleshooting, and emergency maintenance.
• Oversee preventive maintenance for guest rooms and hotel facilities.
• Maintain HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, mechanical, and building systems.
• Assign daily work, manage work orders, and inspect completed work.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire, health, safety, and building codes.
• Manage tools, equipment, supplies, and the Engineering budget.
• Train and support team members while maintaining hotel standards.
• Partner with other departments to ensure a safe and comfortable guest experience.
