Job summary

Hyatt House Salt Lake City Downtown is seeking a Chief Maintenance Engineer to lead maintenance operations, drive preventive programs, and manage in-house and contracted projects. You will oversee building systems, drive safety standards, and mentor a hospitality-focused maintenance team.

This role emphasizes guest experience, operational reliability, and a culture of growth, with opportunities for mentorship and professional development within NCG Hospitality’s portfolio.

Qualifications

• Three or more years in hotel, building, apartment, or similar maintenance environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Experience managing projects from inception to completion.
• Supervisory experience in a maintenance team.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and building systems repairs (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
• When applicable, experience operating and maintaining a commercial pool.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance for equipment, guest rooms, and infrastructure.
• Conduct repairs across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
• Serve as project manager for in-house initiatives: proposals, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.
• Secure and supervise outside contractors ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Maintain exterior appearance, landscaping, parking areas, and pool/spa where applicable.

How You'll Make An Impact

Property Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform and oversee preventive maintenance programs and repairs for equipment, guest rooms, and overall property infrastructure
• Conduct minor repairs on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and other building-related systems

Project Management

• Serve as project manager for in-house projects by gathering proposals, providing recommendations, coordinating schedules, ensuring quality control, managing budgets, and resolving issues as they arise

Contractor Oversight

• Secure and supervise outside contractors for complex equipment and building repair needs, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards

Facility & Grounds Care

• Preserve the property's exterior appearance, including landscaping, lawn care, and upkeep of parking areas
• If applicable, maintain the pool and spa in compliance with company policies, brand standards, and state and local health codes

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Bring

• Three or more years of hotel, building, apartment, or similar maintenance environment
